After a long 16 years, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has organized a large gathering in Paikgacha. The event is scheduled for Thursday, December 26, in honor of the visit of the party’s Ameer, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, to Paikgachha-Koyra. This has generated significant enthusiasm among the party's leaders and activists.

According to former upzila vice-chairman Mawlana Kamal Hossain, a member of the district unit, no senior leader of the party had visited Paikgacha since the last visit by then-Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid in 2008, and no major gathering had been held. Since then, the party's leadership and activists faced various challenges, including imprisonment due to false cases during the tenure of the previous government.

More than 1,500 false cases were filed against party members during the Awami League government, with 200-300 activists allegedly detained without trial. However, following the downfall of the previous government on August 5, party leaders have resumed activities in full swing, organizing freely without police interference or restrictions.

In preparation for the upcoming gathering, organizational committees have been formed at the upzila, municipal and union levels to strengthen the party structure.

The main event will take place at 8:00 AM on December 26 at the Gadaipur Football Ground in Paikgacha. Dr. Shafiqur Rahman will attend as the chief guest. Other notable guests include the party’s Secretary General, Professor Mia Golam Parwar, and several central leaders, including Maulana Abdul Khaleq and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. Leaders and activists at various levels have been actively promoting the event despite the cold weather, distributing leaflets, using loudspeakers, holding small rallies, and engaging in public outreach to ensure the event's success. Mawlana Abul Kalam Azad, Assistant Director of the Khulna region, expressed confidence that over 100,000 people would attend the gathering. He also confirmed that all necessary preparations have been completed.

Paikgacha Police Officer-in-Charge Md. Sabjel Hossain assured that law and order are under control. He stated that measures have been taken to prevent any untoward incidents, with police and intelligence officials regularly inspecting the venue.
