Interim Government’s Religious Affairs Advisor Dr. A.F.M Khalid Hossain on Saturday said “We do not want to witness any more fascism in this country. The Awami League has destroyed every sector during their regime, looting billions and building properties abroad. However, there is no precedent of such actions among Islamic scholars. Despite differences in opinion, all scholars are united on fundamental issues.”

He made these remarks while addressing the alumni reunion of Hashemia Kamil Madrasa in Cox’s Bazar on Saturday.

The chief guest Dr. Khalid Hossain expressed concerns about the recent Secretariat fire, suggesting it could be part of a grand conspiracy.

“A committee has been formed to investigate the incident. If anyone is found guilty, strict action will be taken,” he said.

Addressing the gathering, he urged the nation to be prepared for potential protests against “tyrannical Awami League forces and anti-national conspirators.”

Dr. Khalid Hossain emphasized that the upcoming voter list update from January 1 and the national elections, expected by late 2025 or early 2026, would mark the end of “midnight voting.”

He assured that the next government would be elected through the people’s votes. Prior to the elections, he mentioned plans to resolve boundary disputes and implement necessary reforms.

Hashemia alumni convenor Maulana Nazrul Islam presided over the programme while Maulana Muhammad Shahjahan, assistant secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami was present as the special guest.

Former students shared nostalgic memories, while principal Maulana Faridul Alam moderated the program, and secretary Aminul Islam Hasan delivered a welcome speech.

The day-long reunion transformed the madrasa campus into a vibrant hub of activity, filled with the presence of former students celebrating their shared history.
