The Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain has urged the affluent people of the society to come forward to help the cold-hit poor people.

The City Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain was present as the chief guest at the function presided over by Akbar Chowdhury Kabir Duke, joint convener of Chattogram Metropolitan Krishak Dal on Saturday.

Speaking as the chief guest, the mayor said every year many people lose their lives and fall sick due to severe cold. In this situation, the initiative of the affluent class of the society can play an important role in saving the cold-affected people. He hoped that activities like distribution of winter clothes would help alleviate the sufferings of the poor and helpless people. This initiative awakens humanity among all in the society and inspires them to be responsible towards the poor people.

Regarding the formation of a humane society, Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain said, "Humane One is based on values, empathy and responsibility to each other a truly humane society is created. The rich people of the society should stand beside the cold, poor and helpless people. This will not only alleviate the suffering of the cold-affected people, but also strengthen the foundation of equality in society.

Meanwhile, We have to be aware against polythene. I'm planning to market something new as an alternative. I am going from ward to ward and conducting cleanliness drives. We are monitoring whether mosquito spraying activities are being done properly. Although there is no ward councilor, I am asking the leaders and activists to work together. We have to unite to ensure the service of the people.”

Among others, Vice-President of Metropolitan Jubo Dal Imdadul Haque Badsha, Advocate Abdul Mannan, SM Ayub, M Anwar Hossain Anu, Masud Rana Jahid, Ershad Hossain, Akram Khan, Faruk Hossain, Md. Alamgir and local leaders were present on the occasion.
