Fire breaks out furniture factory in Ctg, fear of major losses

A massive fire broke out at a furniture factory and car garage in Akbar Shah area of Chattogram city. Five units of fire service rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control around 4:00am.  A fire broke out in Akbarshah CDA-1 area around 1:45am on Sunday last night. Locals said the fire broke out at Padmapukur Par Furniture Factory in Akbarshah CDA-1 residential area around 1:45am. Later, two units of fire service reached the spot.

But as the fire intensified, the fire spread to nearby car garages and multi-storey buildings. Then three more units of fire service joined. Five units of fire service were able to bring the fire under control around 4 am after about three hours of effort.

It is also known that when the fire was spreading to multi-storey buildings around the area. Thousands of people came out of the house after seeing the intensity of the fire. Due to the presence of wood in the furniture factory, the intensity of the fire increased. However, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.  

Confirming the matter, the Divisional Fire Service Control Office said, "On receiving the news of the fire at the furniture factory in CDA-1 area at around 1:45 am, our two units first reached the spot. Later, as the intensity of the fire increased, the fire spread to the market and multi-storey buildings.Then three more units joined us to control the fire. It took a total of five units of about three hours to bring the fire under control.

The control office also said that it is not possible to say for sure where the fire started. After the investigation, we will know the extent of damage and the cause of the fire. However, no casualties were reported.
