Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin said there is no bar on Awami League to take part in the next general election unless the government bans it.
The Election Commission is completely independent. There is no pressure on the committee. Unlike the last election, external forces will not be able to put pressure on the Election Commission.
He said this while exchanging views with election officials on the occasion of updating the voter list and the 13th parliamentary election at the circuit house on Monday.
CEC said the commission will take all measures to hold the 13th parliamentary election in a fair manner. Besides, the voter list will be updated within the next six months. This time there will be no voting like before. National unity has been created on the issue of voting after August 5.
He also said, we found fake voter information while working with voters. Many voters died. The list of those who died has not yet been finalized.
Relatives of those who died do not come to cancel their names from the voter list. These opportunities were taken in previous elections.
Chattogram Regional Election Officer Yunus Ali, District Election Officer Bashir Ahmed and others were present on the occasion.
