Former Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station Nezam Uddin has been beaten up by BNP leaders and activists in Chattogram.
BNP leaders and activists beat and humiliated him in front of the Panchlaish passport office around 2:30 pm on Monday.
It is known that former OC Nezam Uddin came in front of the Regional Passport Office at noon. At that time, angry local people physically assaulted him and dragged him by the collar and tore his shirt.
On condition of anonymity, a local BNP leader said mayor Shahadat Hossain and BNP leaders and activists were unjustly arrested and tortured while performing their duties in different police stations during the previous government's tenure. As a result, the leaders are angry with him today.
Panchlaish Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Sajjad Hossain confirmed the matter. "We have taken OC Nezam Sir into custody. However, the details of why this happened will be known later.
Former OC Nezam Uddin served as the officer-in-charge of Kotwali, Bakalia, Sadarghat and Patiya police stations.
