Meeting on women, peace, and security held in Patiya

The third meeting of the Patiya Upazila Steering Committee on Women, Peace, and Security was held on Monday at Family Kitchen & Buffet Hall near Patiya Police Station. The committee was formed to implement the National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security.

Supported by the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders and implemented by the Bangladesh Nari Progati Sangha under the project “Empowering Bangladeshi Women to Contribute to Sustainable Peace”, the committee includes government officials, women leaders, educators, cultural workers, local government representatives, and youth delegates. The group works to ensure peace and security for women in the region.

The meeting discussed gender equality, the impact of conflict and violence on women and girls, and women's participation in peacebuilding processes.

The session was chaired by Information Service Officer Marjina Begum and facilitated by Patiya Steering Committee Coordinator Ferdous Ahmed, with support from Development Officer S.M. Ershadul Karim.

Upazila Project Implementation Officer Rabiu Hossain, Upazila Women Affairs Officer Chandan Chakraborty, Former Chairman of Kelishahar Union Parishad Md. Jasim Uddin, Journalist Abdur Razzak, Former Headmistress of Shashangkamala Government Primary School Rokeya Akter, Vice-President of TIB-SANAK Sheela Das, among others, were present at the meeting.
