As part of the Youth Festival 2025 in Lota, a union of Paikgacha upazila in Khulna, illegal fishing nets and gear from the Betangi River were removed and destroyed by burning.
On Tuesday morning, the Lota Union Parishad organized several activities as part of the festival, including a cleanliness drive, initiatives to mitigate waterlogging, and a workshop titled "Imagining Tomorrow's Bangladesh through the Lens of Youth."
The event was graced by the presence of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Mahera Nazneen, as the chief guest, and Assistant Commissioner (Land), Md. Iftekharul Islam Shamim, as the special guest. Also in attendance were union parishad members, teachers, volunteers, youth groups and local residents.
As part of the cleanliness drive and waterlogging mitigation efforts, illegal fishing nets and barriers were removed from the Betangi River to restore natural water flow. The campaign aimed to encourage environmental conservation and raise awareness among the local community.
Later, during the workshop "Imagining Tomorrow's Bangladesh through the Lens of Youth," students presented posters showcasing their ideas and future plans for the nation.
