Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Hossain, Lohagara Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer on Friday said that providing quality healthcare and diagnostic services in private hospitals is essential to reduce the burden on urban facilities and ensure better treatment for rural patients.
He emphasized that no patient should face harassment under any circumstances and that private hospitals must prioritize service quality.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural event of the Lohagara Private Hospital and Diagnostic Association on Friday, held at the VIP Hall of Mashabi Restaurant in Lohagara, Dr. Iqbal Hossain stressed the need for improved diagnostic standards and reiterated the prohibition of operating hospitals without proper licenses.
He warned against fraudulent practitioners conducting unsafe deliveries and pledged to take legal action with the support of the Upazila administration.
Dr. Hossain also highlighted recent government initiatives, including improving the environment of the Lohagara Upazila Health Complex and providing one month's advance medicine for maternity patients. He urged private hospitals to adopt positive practices, such as free treatments for impoverished patients, and ensure respectful interactions with all patients.
The event was presided over by Dr. Mohammad Ali, Chairman of Lohagara Ma Moni Hospital and Vice-Chairman of Ibn Sina Medical College, and was co-hosted by the association's Joint Secretary Nazrul Islam, and Assistant Secretary Mohammad Delwar Hossain.

Saifullah Chowdhury, President of Lohagara Press Club and Director (Admin) of Asian Hospital; and Abdul Gafur, Vice-Chairman of Padua Asian Hospital.
During the meeting, the newly formed committee of the association was announced by Secretary Maulana Mahmudur Rahman, Director (Admin) of Lohagara Sound Health Hospital.
Leaders urged all members to work together to strengthen the organization’s activities and ensure quality healthcare for the people of Lohagara.
