Satkania murder accused arrested in Cox’s Bazar

A homeopathy doctor named Abdul Mabud (38) has been arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-15 from Teknaf on charges of murdering his stepbrother in Satkania in Chattogram.

Abdul Mabud, a resident of Shah Mohsen Fakir Para in Ward 6 of Dhemsa Union in Satkania, is the son of the late Nuruzzaman. 

The in-charge of the Dhemsa Chowdhury Hat Police Investigation Center Inspector Prashanta Kumar Bhowmik confirmed to The Daily Messenger that Mabud was handed over to Satkania Police Station on Tuesday night.

The incident took place on November 24, 2024, when Abdul Salam (57), the second son of the late Nuruzzaman, was brutally attacked while heading to the mosque for Fajr prayers. The assailants fled after leaving Salam critically injured on the roadside. Family members rushed him to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on December 1, 2024. A case was filed on December 4, 2024 with Satkania Police Station over the murder

Following the attack, Abdul Mabud went into hiding. On Saturday, another suspect, identified as Jafar, was arrested by the police. Abdul Mabud, the prime suspect in the case, was apprehended shortly after.
