The Chattogram judicial courts on Wednesday rejected the bail petitions for former Housing and Public Works Minister and ex-MP of Chattogram-1 (Mirsharai), Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, in nine separate cases. The courts also directed authorities to officially show him as arrested in these cases and instructed that divisional privileges be provided as per prison regulations.

Three separate judicial courts in Chattogram issued the orders, Public Prosecutor Ashraf Hossain Chowdhury Razzak confirmed the matter to The Daily Messenger.

"Engineer Mosharraf Hossain was ordered to be shown arrested in nine cases across three courts. While his legal team sought bail, all petitions were denied. However, the court directed compliance with prison regulations regarding his divisional status," the Public Prosecutor said.

Earlier on Tuesday night (January 14), Mosharraf was transferred to Chattogram from Dhaka Central Jail for court hearings. Following the hearings, he was sent back to jail.

The hearings were conducted in three courts: five cases were heard in the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahmudul Haque Sani for incidents under the Mirsharai and Jorarganj police jurisdictions. Three cases were addressed in Senior Judicial Magistrate Fardeen Mustaqeem Taseen's court, while one case was heard in Senior Judicial Magistrate Mominunnisa Khanam's court.

Earlier on October 27, 2024 Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch arrested Engineer Mosharraf Hossain from his residence in Dhaka.
