In celebration of the bicentennial birth anniversary of Gausul Azam Maizbhandari Shah Sufi Syed Ahmed Ullah, a Thalassemia Awareness Seminar was organized at Maizbhandar Darbar Sharif in Fatikchari in Chattogram. The seminar was conducted under the patronage of Syed Emdadul Hoque Maizbhandari (M.), the Sajjadanashin of Gausia Ahmadia Manzil, and arranged by Shah Emdadia Blood Donors Group.
The seminar, held on Thursday was presided over by Syed Irfanul Hoque Maizbhandari (M.), Chairman of Maizbhandari Foundation and Managing Trustee of Darul Irfan Research Institute (DIRI). Dr. Mohammad Zainal Abedin Mohuri, Consultant (Pediatrics) at Fatikchari Upazila Health Complex, was present as the speaker.
Dr. Mohammad Zainal Abedin Mohuri highlighted the importance of awareness regarding thalassemia, describing it as a genetic blood disorder that impedes the production of healthy hemoglobin.
He also emphasized the need for preventive measures through genetic counseling and regular health screenings.
In his presidential address, Syed Irfanul Hoque Maizbhandari said, "Syed Emdadul Hoque Maizbhandari continues to work tirelessly not only in the realm of spirituality but also in healthcare, education, and economic empowerment, transforming populations into a powerful workforce. The Shah Emdadia Blood Donors Group is extending its services internationally, embodying the spirit of humanitarian service.”
As part of the 10-day annual program marking the Urs, a blood donation camp was also organized by Shah Emdadia Blood Donors Group and Anjuman-e-Muttabeene Gaus-e-Maizbhandari (Shah Emdadia) Fatikchari Upazila Executive Committee. A total of 71 bags of blood were collected, with logistical support from the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Chattogram.
Additionally, a family gathering for the Darul Irfan education community was held, organized by Maizbhandari Education Trust and supported by Syed Emdadul Hoque Maizbhandari (M.). The event brought together key officials and heads of institutions under the trust's umbrella, fostering a collaborative spirit toward educational development.
