On the occasion of the 119th annual Urs of Hazrat Gausul Azam Syed Ahmad Ullah Maizbhandari (RA), the founder of the Maizbhandari Sufi order, a ceremonial placement of the "Ghilaf" (decorative covering) took place at his shrine on Thursday. The event was led by Hazrat Maulana Shah Sufi Syed Emdadul Hoque Maizbhandari, Sajjadanashin of Gausia Ahmadia Manzil, and Syed Irfanul Hoque Maizbhandari, the Naib Sajjadanashin and organizer.
Dr. Sheikh Maqbul Islam from India, Alhaj Syedul Haque Khan, Managing Director of Khan Agro Group, Captain Syed Sohel Hasnat, Managing Director of Phoenix Shipping Limited, Zahirul Islam Chowdhury Alamgir, former Director of Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mohammad Abu Taher, Deputy Managing Director of Meghna Group of Industries, and Syed Erham Hossain and Syed Manawar Hossain, among others, were present at the programme.
Following the "Ghilaf" placement, a series of spiritual activities, including recitation, Zikir, and a special prayer, were conducted at the shrine premises. The Sajjadanashin, Syed Emdadul Hoque Maizbhandari, led the prayers, which highlighted themes of spiritual growth and unity.
Devotees from all over Bangladesh and across the world, including countries such as India, the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, China, the UK, Singapore, Malaysia, and Oman, are participating in this year’s Urs. The main day of the Urs is set for Friday culminating with the final prayer (Akhiri Munajat) at 12:01 a.m. in the Shahi Maidan of Gausia Ahmadia Manzil. Syed Emdadul Hoque Maizbhandari will lead the prayer, seeking peace, prosperity, and the welfare of the global Muslim community.
To ensure the safety of participants, additional police, plainclothes officers, and other law enforcement personnel have been deployed. The Maizbhandar Urs Supervision Committee has installed CCTV cameras and implemented 24-hour monitoring.
Special facilities, such as adequate parking, sanitation, clean drinking water, medical care with specialist doctors, and well-organized prayer arrangements, have been arranged. Volunteers from the Maizbhandar Special Force (MSF) and the supervision committee, under the guidance of Syed Irfanul Hoque Maizbhandari, are managing the event smoothly.
The Urs of Hazrat Gausul Azam Syed Ahmad Ullah Maizbhandari (RA) remains a symbol of spiritual devotion, attracting millions of devotees who gather to honor the Sufi saint and seek his blessings.
