Police have arrested five suspected members of a robber gang from Kotwali area of Chattogram city. Various firearms were recovered from them.
They were arrested in a raid behind the abandoned railway quarters beside CRB Francis Road around 1:30 am on Sunday.
This information was given in a press release sent from the Public Relations Department of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) on Monday.
The arrestees were identified as Md Akbar Hossain, 25, Imam Hossain Prakash Ibrahim, 25, Md Belal, 33, Md Rubel, 27, and Md Alamgir Hossain, 36.
Abdul Karim, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station, said five members of the professional muggers and robbers were arrested while preparing for the robbery. They were sent to court after a case was filed against them.
