A seminar titled "Riba and Financial Practices" was held BGC Trust University Bangladesh. The Department of Business Administration at BGC Trust University Bangladesh organized the seminar on Monday.
Professor Dr. Md. Sarwar Uddin, Chairman of Department of Business Administration, presided over the seminar while Professor Dr. A.F.M. Aowrangazab, Vice-Chancellor of BGC Trust University Bangladesh, addressed the seminar as chief guest.
Fahim Uddin Ahmad Arif, a member of the Board of Trustees of BGC Trust University Bangladesh, was the event’s chief patron. Professor Dr. Mohammed Nurul Alam from the Department of Accounting at Yorkville University in Canada, was the key resource person.
Nawrin Afrin, Lecturer in the Department of Business Administration, conducted the seminar while Abdul Mannan, former Assistant Managing Director of Bangladesh Krishi Bank, Professor Dr. S.M. Tarek, former Principal of BGC Trust Medical College, and Professor A.B.M. Abu Noman, former Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Chittagong and Advisor of the Department of Law at BGC Trust University Bangladesh, Treasurer-in-Charge Professor Dr. Hazrat Ali Mia, Registrar-in-charge Dr. S.M. Shoaib, Md. Abdul Hannan, Chairman of the Department of Law; Md. Salahuddin Chowdhury, Chairman of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering; Md. Azim Uddin, Chairman of the Department of English; Zahed Bin Rahim, Chairman of the Department of Pharmacy; and Yeasr Silmy, Chairman-in-Charge of the Department of Journalism and Media Studies, were present at the seminar.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A.F.M. Aowrangazab said that students entering the professional world must have a clear career plan from the very beginning.
"The university regularly organizes trainings, workshops, and seminars to provide practical guidance for business administration students in shaping their careers. Students should to take full advantage of such seminars for their professional growth,"the VC said.
The key resource person, Professor Dr. Mohammed Nurul Alam, highlighted the revolutionary impact of Islamic banking in society, noting that even Western economies have adopted aspects of it.
"Islamic banking is essential for establishing a just society, reducing poverty, and tackling unemployment,"he said.
Professor Nurul Alam called for the establishment of a genuine Islamic banking system, rather than one in name only, and emphasized that despite the challenges of expanding Islamic banking against conventional banking, it remains a vital path to economic freedom.
Dr. Nurul Alam paid tribute to the martyrs of the Language Movement, urging everyone to promote the use of the Bengali language at all levels.
Chief Patron Fahim Uddin Ahmad Arif urged BGC Trust University Bangladesh and its stakeholders to develop and implement modern and quality education strategies to prepare students as skilled human resources.
He said through this, students would uphold the university’s reputation in the global academic and professional arena.
