A sub-inspector of police on duty at a checkpoint on the Outer Ring Road in Patenga, Chattogram, has fallen victim to an attack by miscreants. During this time, the attackers created a planned 'mob' to assault the police officer and seized his mobile phone, wallet, and wireless set. Later, patrolling police, with the help of people nearby, rescued the police officer and apprehended two youths involved in the incident.

This incident took place late at night on Friday, February 28. On Saturday, March 1, the matter was confirmed by Mahmudah Begum, Additional Deputy Commissioner (PR and Media) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police.

The arrested individuals are Simon (27) and Ali Imad, also known as Tafsir Imad (22). The police officer who was attacked is Sub-Inspector Yusuf Ali of the Patenga police station.

Police reported that late Friday night, the attackers beat up Sub-Inspector Yusuf Ali, who was on duty at the checkpoint on the Outer Ring Road adjacent to Patenga beach, and took away his mobile phone, wallet, and wireless set. At that time, when the wounded police officer Yusuf Ali shouted for help while identifying himself, the attackers created a mob calling him a fake police officer and gathered criminals at the scene.

Later, upon receiving the news, a team of Patenga police officers who were patrolling in the sea beach area, along with local people, rescued Sub-Inspector Yusuf Ali. At the same time, an agitated crowd caught the two mob creators and handed them over to the police after giving them a beating.

During this time, stolen mobile phones, a wallet, and a walkie-talkie were recovered. Additionally, a knife and a motorcycle used in the robbery were seized from the two youths. A case has been filed under the Speedy Trial Act at the Patenga model police station regarding this incident.
