Bogura Deputy Commissioner (DC) Saiful Islam joined the farmers of Sherpur under the Bogura district in harvesting Boro paddies.
It is as if fields of golden rice grains are swaying in the wind and filled up with fragrance of new rice. Someone is cutting rice. Someone else is preparing for harvesting. A bumper yielding of paddy in Sherpur of Bogura has put smiles to farmers.
Deputy Commissioner Saiful Islam has cut the farmer's boro paddy. District administration organized the paddy cutting of farmers of Nimpara village of Hatfulbari union of Sariakandi upazila on Thursday 10:30 am. At this time, the rice of about two and a half bigha of the farmer's land was cut and brought to home.
Farmers said that 40 percent of paddy has been harvested. And within one week, paddy harvesting will start in full swing.
However, due to the increase in the price of every essentials including fertilizers, pesticides and labour, the farmers are in despair about getting a fair price for paddy.
Farmers are also thinking about labor shortage in the whole season especially during harvesting. However, in such a situation, according to the agriculture department, there will be no shortage of laborers if there is mechanical dependence.
In addition, the cost will also decrease. This information was known after visiting different areas of the district and talking to the farmers on Thursday.
Sahadara Mannan, Member of Parliament for Bogra-1 (Sariakandi-Sonatala), Deputy Director of Bogra Agriculture Extension Department Matalbur Rahman, Sariakandi Upazila Executive Officer (Acting) Sujan Kumar Basak, Municipal Mayor Motiur Rahman Moti, Upazila Agriculture Officer Abdul Halim were present during the harvesting of paddy. Hatfulbari Union Parishad Chairman Anwarut Tariq Mohammad and others also attended the programme.
