Journo Nadim killing, UP chairman held from Panchagarh

The main accused of journalist Golam Rabbani Nadim murder, Sadhurpara union parishad chairman Mahmudul Alam was held from Panchagar border on Saturday (17 June) morning.

The law enforcers detained Mahmudul Alam from the border area at Char Tistapara of Chilahati union of Debiganj upazila of Panchagarh around 7am on Saturday, Chilahati union Parishad chairman Harun-ur-Rashid has confirmed the news to the news man.

He said members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), law enforcers have detained Mahmudul Alam in the morning.

Officer-in-charge of Bakshiganj Police Station Sohel Rana also confirmed the matter. He said they gave the address of Mahmudul Alam’s sister and elite force has detained him from there.

Meanwhile, earlier, police have confirmed that Sadhurpara UP chairman Mahmudul Alam has instructed to kill journalist Golam Rabbani Nadim.

Jamalpur superintendent of police (SP) Nasir Uddin Ahmed said police have, so far, detained ten people based on CCTV footage analysis in connection with the murder.

During the primary interrogation, they all admitted that they are followers of the chairman.

According to their given information, police have confirmed that the chairman gave instructions to carry out the murder, he added.

He said journalist Nadim published news which had gone against UP chairman Mahmudul, also the general secretary of union Awami League.

Followers of the Mahmudul attacked Golam Rabbani in Pathati area of Bakshiganj upazila in in Jamalpur at around 100pm on Wednesday (June 10).

Nadim died while undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital at around 2:45 pm on Thursday.
No case was filed following the murder till Friday evening.

He was Jamalpur district correspondent of ‘Banglanews24.com’ and Bakshiganj upazila correspondent of Ekattor TV.
