At least 13 people were killed and 15 others injured when a bus plunged into a roadside pond at Chhatrakanda in Sadar upazila of Jhalakathi district on Saturday (22 July).
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
The Barishal-bound bus from Bhandaria in Pirojpur district fell into the pond as its driver lost control over steering near Union Parishad office around 9:55 am, leaving 13 people dead and 15 others injured, said Sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station Shakhawat Hossain.
The injured were taken to Sadar Hospital. The local firefighting units are trying to salavage the bus from the pond.
