Diverse endeavors have been set in motion to enhance the tourist appeal of the 'SM Sultan Memorial Museum.' In line with this ongoing effort, a notable addition has been the unveiling of the 'Vrammoman Children's Haven,' an innovative double-decker boat, paying homage to SM Sultan's creative spirit. The charming locale of Shishuswarga Ghat, situated alongside the tranquil Chitra river and embraced by serene natural surroundings, has recently undergone a revitalization.
A bamboo bridge now extends from the double-decker boat, christened 'SM Sultan Ghat,' gracefully connecting it to the waters of the Chitra river. Furthermore, the boat has been thoughtfully enveloped with a clean earth, brick, and tile perimeter, forming a harmonious and visually appealing composition.
However, an earnest call has emerged for the expansion of the entrance to the Sultan Memorial Museum. The existing road's limited width poses challenges for both local and international tourists who seek to navigate the area in private cars, microbuses, and other vehicles. The absence of adequate parking facilities compounds these difficulties, causing inconvenience for visitors.
Delving into the narrative, SM Sultan himself shared insights into his journey of boat crafting that commenced in the early 1990s. The majestic double-decker boat spans an impressive 60 feet in length and 15 feet in width, showcasing exquisite woodwork. With a remarkable capacity to accommodate around 600 passengers, the boat boasts amenities such as a cozy living and dining area, complemented by an inviting drawing room.
Mohammad Ashfaqul Haque Chowdhury, the Deputy Commissioner and President of the SM Sultan Foundation, elucidated the foundational purpose of the museum complex, established years ago to safeguard the legacy of the illustrious painter SM Sultan. The meticulous renovation of the ghat has been realized through an investment of one and a half lakh taka. Moreover, efforts have been channeled towards proposing several initiatives to the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, envisioning an even more enticing and visitor-friendly Sultan Complex.
