Gaibandha District Hospital is poised to redefine healthcare standards as it enters a new era of development through the construction of a state-of-the-art facility. This ten-story marvel has been meticulously designed to deliver advanced and contemporary medical services, marking a significant leap in the district's healthcare landscape.

Boasting a capacity of 250 beds, the newly founded ten-story structure, spanning an impressive 17,500 square feet, stands adjacent to the hospital's original edifice. Infused with cutting-edge medical amenities, this building is set to revolutionize healthcare provisions in Gaibandha.

Overseen by the Public Works Department and funded at a cost of Tk 34 crore, the construction project commenced in December 2019. Current progress, as reported by the engineering firm, stands at an impressive 90 percent completion of the building.

The modernization efforts are manifested through a host of facilities, including an elevator, dual staircases, a high-standard general ward, private cabin rooms, a dedicated electrical substation, round-the-clock uninterrupted high-flow oxygen plant, mortuary services, body storage provisions, and a well-equipped ICU.

Executive Engineer of Gaibandha District Public Works Department, Md. Asaduzzaman said that currently, the primary structure is nearing completion, with the remaining tasks encompassing the addition of service annexes and the installation of the elevator. Barring unforeseen challenges, the entire project is slated for completion by the upcoming year.

Dr. Mahbub Hossain, the supervisor of Gaibandha District Hospital, expressed his enthusiasm for this pioneering endeavor, highlighting its distinction as the first-ever ten-story government building in Gaibandha. Beyond elevating healthcare service quality, this novel facility is anticipated to alleviate the persistent shortage of beds, which has been a persistent issue for the hospital.

The backdrop reveals that the 250-bed Gaibandha District Hospital has been consistently strained by patient inflow. Originally designed to accommodate a mere 100 beds, the facility underwent an expansion to house 250 beds, catering to the healthcare needs of approximately 2.7 million residents within the district. However, the expansion did not proportionally enhance service quality, perpetuating patient discomfort.
