Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Bandarban, the Mirinja Tourist Complex is a captivating destination renowned for its natural beauty. Established on September 17, 2003, under the Lama upazila administration and in collaboration with the Tourism Corporation, this 33-acre complex stands tall at around 2,250 feet above sea level in the Mirinja Hills of Lama.
One of the standout features of the Mirinja Tourist Complex is the iconic Titanic sculpture gracing its southern side, giving rise to its popular moniker, "Titanic Mountain." This captivating sculpture serves as a poignant reminder of the legendary Titanic ship, adding a unique historical touch to the place.
The Mirinja Tourist Complex offers a distinct experience compared to other destinations in the district. Surrounded by hills and rivers, it provides an opportunity to marvel at the ever-changing canvas of the sky, where clouds gently kiss the Mirinja Hills, offering an ethereal experience.
For families, a mini children's park offers entertainment, while the sound of cascading water from a thousand-feet-deep gorge echoes from the eastern pair of green hills.
While dining options within the complex are limited, the nearby town of Lama Upazila offers a variety of accommodation and dining choices. Safety is a priority, making it an ideal destination for families.
For those looking to explore further, Lama boasts several other attractions, including "Kichukkhan," "Mirinja Valley," Tangthamang Resort and Restaurant, a 150-year-old Buddhist Monastery, Quantum Foundation, the Matamuhary river, and numerous fountains.
How to get there:
Getting to Mirinja is convenient, with buses departing from Dhaka to Chakaria bus station on the Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway. From there, a short journey by bus, jeep, microbus, or auto-rickshaw will take you to Mirinja in about 20 minutes.
Where to stay:
To accommodate your stay, Lama Bazar in Lama Upazila offers several high-quality hotels. Spend the day exploring the Mirinja Tourist Complex, and return to Lama Bazar in the evening via bus, jeep, or the local "Chander Gari."
Lama Upazila Executive Officer Md. Mostafa Javed Qaiser has been instrumental in revitalizing and enhancing the Mirinja Tourist Complex. With ongoing efforts to create new attractions like "Kekishan" and the proposal for a modern lake, the complex continues to evolve, promising visitors an even more enchanting experience amidst the natural wonders of Bandarban.
