Two teens dead in Dinajpur gas cylinder blast

Two teenagers were dead as a gas cylinder exploded in a house in Dinajpur's Birganj upazila on Monday (23 October). The deceased were identified as Prosenjit Chandra Pal, 13, son of Pratab Chandra Pal of Kumarpara area and Shimanto Pal, 17, son of Nikhil Chandra Pal of the same family.

They succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital on Monday night, said Mainul Islam, officer-in-charge of Birganj police station. The OC said that Pratab, Prosenjit’s father, sells gas balloons.

Around 7:30 pm last night, the gas cylinder exploded with a big bang, leaving Prosenjit and Shimanto severely injured.

The boys were rushed to a nearby hospital where they received primary treatment.

Later, they were shifted to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital, where they died at night, added the police officer.
