2 killed as mini truck overturns in Sylhet

Two people were dead and at least 7 were injured as a mini truck carrying them overturned after losing control on Sylhet-Tamabil Road in Jaintiapur upazila of Sylhet Tuesday (24 October) morning. The deceased Jahangir, 30, and Moyamin, 28, were residents of Itapara area under Keraniganj upazila of Dhaka.

The injured — Md Ripon, 22; Rubel Alam, 28; Jahangir Alam, 25; Mintu, 25; and Md. Hossein, 27 — are also from the same upazila. Identities of the other injured could not be confirmed immediately.

Md Tajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Jaintiapur police station, confirmed the casualties saying that some people from Keraniganj came to the Hazrat Shahjalal Mazar to offer prayers.

The accident occurred around 9:30 am when the truck carrying them overturned after losing control on the road while on its way to Jaflong from Sylhet, leaving the two dead and several injured, he said.

Initially the injured were rushed to Jaintiapur Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital, the OC added.
