As the government has taken up mega projects first ever in the countrys history, continuity of the present government may ensure the countrys economic development, said leaders of the ruling party.

As chaos and anarchy create obstacle for the development, local leaders of the ruling party vowed to check anarchy and chaos in the name of political programme in the port city. The continuity of this government is helpful to economic development, they said.

They said this while addressing a press conference at Abdul Khaleque auditorium of Chattogram Press Club on Thursday.

While reading out a written speech, Helal Akbar Chowdhury Babor, chief coordinator of coordination council comprising leaders of former local Chhatra League and central ruling party leaders and also deputy finance affairs secretary of central Jubo League, said the activists of the ruling party would allow none to disrupt law and order situation in Chattogram.

The press conference was held as BNP and some other political parties threatened to launch movement here in the name of politics ahead of the national election.

People here played an important role during the countrys liberation war in 1971. They also played significant roles in 1975 and 1982 against terrorism and anarchy, he said.

Terming themselves as followers of Bangabandhu and her daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said that none would be allowed to resort to vandalism and anarchy in the name of political programme and movement.

Accusing BNP and Jamaat of hatching conspiracy ahead of the national election 2024, Babor observed that the ruling party activists would raise awareness by launching peaceful movement against their plot.

If there is any conspiracy and anarchy, the activists will not sit idle. They will resist the movement unitedly. Utilizing our past experiences, we will build up resistance to foil all kinds of conspiracy, he added.

Referring to various mega projects being done for economic uplift in the country during the tenure of this government, Babor hoped that people would vote Awami League to power again in the next national election to continue the pace of development.

Former local and central leaders of Jubo League and Chhatra League MR Azim, Mohammad Salahuddin, Debasish Nath Debu, Bitu Dash Babul, Asshikur Rahman Munna and others also spoke at the press conference.

Other leaders said the goal of making Digital Bangladesh has been fulfilled. The next goal is to achieve Smart Bangladesh. People are now united to achieve that goal, they observed.
