Law enforcers seized 9 lakh mt net, 30 fishing trawler and 88 sent jail in Bhola

Law enforcement agency members arrested a total of 152 fishermen of them 88 were sent to jail those who were going to the river Meghna and Tetulia to fish during the last 15 days defying the fishing ban order.

District fishery officer Abul Kalam Azad told this Correspondent that at the time they conducted 274 drives against illegal fishing in the river Meghna, Tetulia, and in the coastal area of the Bay.

The law-enforcers seized about 9 lakh meters of ban nets and 30 fishing trawlers and boats for engaged netting Hilsha fish from the river.

While M. Farid Uzzaman Deputy Commissioner of Bhola said that they decided in joint coordination committee meeting that they strictly implement the ban order which imposed the government to safe breeding of Hilsha fish and increase production.

 At the time joint team comprising Magistrate, police, and Coast Guard conducted 86 mobile courts and fine 58 fishermen for illegal fishing, and file 80 criminal cases accusing 88 fishermen and sent them to jail.
