Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members have arrested two people including president of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal(JCD) metropolitan unit on charges of planning sabotage after announcement of polls schedule on Wednesday (15 November).
The arrestees were Rezaul Karim (36), president of Barisal Metropolitan unit Chhatra Dal and his associate Abir (27).
Rab's Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin confirmed the matter at a press conference in Barishal on Wednesday noon.
Rezaul and his associate planned to set fire to a launch of Dhaka-Barishal route after the schedule for the national election is announced.
He used to make videos and send it to the leaders which went viral social media platforms. Besides, a call record of setting fire to a Dhaka-Barishal passenger launch has also gone viral, said Commander Moin.
There are 8-10 cases against them including for sabotage and arson attacks.
They have been sent to jail through the court, he added.
