Adam Tamizi Haque, chairman of Haque Group, was shown arrested in  a case filed under the Digital Security Act in the capital's Dakshinkhan police station.

DB Chief Harun-Or-Rashid confirmed the development in a press briefing at the DB office on Minto Road around 10:30 pm on Saturday.

He was taken to the DB office from Gulshan this evening.

Besides, his wife also lodged a complaint against him.

"We will try to find out why he burnt his passport and spread propaganda against the government on social media," Harun-Or-Rashid added.

The DB chief also said that if they think he is mentally ill during the interrogation, he will be sent to rehabilitation for psychiatric treatment. And if it seems that he did all the things to spread propaganda against the government, legal action will be taken against him, he added.

Earlier, a case was filed against him under the Digital Security Act with Dakshinkhan Police in Uttara in the capital.

According to the case statement, Adam Tamizi Haque made various objectionable, defamatory and provocative statements against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and also threatened to kill the Prime Minister on his Facebook page several times.

Later, a raid was conducted on November 16 midnight to arrest Tamizi from his Gulshan residence but RAB was forced to return without completing the arrest as he threatened to commit suicide if he was arrested.
