It appears that Heba has engaged in deceptive practices to conceal the true market value of the purchased land. The sale deed was executed without proper documentation, potentially to obscure the actual transaction details and the true value of the purchased properties. The salt trader, M. U. M. Abul Hossain of Chattogram took advantage of this situation and acquired a substantial amount of land in different areas, including Patenga, Bandar, and Patia thanas.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has taken legal action against M. U. M. Abul Hossain and his wife, Faizun Nesha Hossain, by filing two separate cases for allegedly acquiring illegal assets. The cases were filed at the integrated district office (Chittagong-1) by ACC Assistant Director Amran Hossain on Thursday. The charges include the possession of illegal assets amounting to Tk 9 crore in their names. It's worth noting that the ACC has reportedly seized their illegal assets prior to initiating the legal proceedings.
Abul Hossain, the proprietor of M/s Akrs Trading Company, Uniship International Limited, and M/s Mau Salt Crushing Industries, has declared in his statement of assets the acquisition of assets amounting to Tk 21 crore 19 lakh 72 thousand 202. This includes immovable assets valued at Tk 20 crore 65 lakh 72 thousand 202 and movable assets totaling Tk 54 lakh.
However, upon reviewing records obtained during the verification process, it was found that his total wealth acquisition amounted to 11 crore 59 lakh 12 thousand 250 taka. This includes immovable assets worth 11 crore 10 lakh 99 thousand 500 taka and movable property totaling 48 lakh 12 thousand 750 taka.
It has been noted that he has acquired assets inconsistent with a known source of income, amounting to Tk 7 crore 94 lakh 47 thousand 12, in his name.
Additionally, to further obscure the source and amount of money spent on these acquisitions, including hiding the true market value of the purchased land, he allegedly executed Am-Moktarnama deeds without corresponding Clear Sale Deeds. Ammoktar, acting on false assurances of recovery of possession and identification of land, executed deeds in his own name for the land owners mentioned in Serial Numbers 61, 86, 93, 97, 98, 99.
Abul Hossain declared in his statement of assets that he acquired the mentioned assets from his business income. However, during the review of income tax documents for the tax year 2005-06 and an on-site inspection, it was discovered that he owns a modern 4-storey building in Halishahar, Chittagong, with each floor having an area of 24,000 square feet. This building is used as his residence for himself and his family, featuring air-conditioning in almost every room.
Additionally, it was observed that there is a 5-storey building constructed in a modern architectural style in South Madhya Halishahar, Chittagong, which is the ancestral home of Ali Mia Sub-Registrar.
The investigation into Abul Hossain's assets has revealed a discrepancy. While he did not declare any ownership of buildings and land in his asset decleration, evidence suggests otherwise. The review of records obtained during the investigation did not uncover any indication of debt or liabilities in his name, and he has not provided information about any liabilities in his asset decleration.
Assets inconsistent with known sources of income, totaling Tk 99 lakh 4 thousand 430, have been discovered in the name of Faizun Nescha Hossain, the wife of M. U. M. Abul Hossain and the owner of M/s FN Trading Co. and Uniship International Limited. This discovery has led to the registration of a case against her.
