A Natore court has sentenced a man to 10 years in prison in a case filed for attempting to rape a woman in Gurdaspur upazila.
Natore Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Muhammad Abdur Rahim handed down the verdict against Selim Prang on Thursday.
The court also fined the convict Tk 20,000 and ordered that the money be given to the victim, confirmed Special Public Prosecutor Anisur Rahman.
On January 25, 2014, the accused, Selim, entered the house of his neighbor and tried to rape her.
Hearing the screams of the victim, neighbors rushed to the spot, and Selim fled. The victim later filed a case against him in this regard.
