BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, a member of the party's standing committee, have received bail in another case filed at Platan Police Station. Dhaka's Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Tahmina Haque’s court granted the bail on Wednesday (17 January) following a hearing.

Previously, a Dhaka court gave police permission to question BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury at the jail gate for two days in the sabotage case on December 18.

Sumit Kumar Saha, an investigation officer and Sub-Inspector at Paltan Model Police Station filed the appeal on December 14 to show Fakhrul and Khasru, who had been detained in the case, on remand for 10 days.

On October 29, the Detective Branch (DB) of the police apprehended Fakhrul at his Gulshan apartment. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin sentenced him to jail in a case involving an attack on the Chief Justice's mansion during a BNP protest in the city's Nayapaltan neighborhood on October 28.

Khasru was apprehended by police in his Gulshan residence early on November 3. On October 28, he was remanded on detention for six days in a case involving the death of police policeman Amirul Islam Parvej.
