The Bangladesh Competition Commission has ruled on the case filed in 2022 against Diamond Egg Limited and CP Bangladesh Limited for their involvement in the syndicate of the abnormal increase in the price of eggs. In the verdict, the commission fined an amount of Tk 3.5 crores to two companies.
Bangladesh Competition Commission gave the verdict on Wednesday (Jan 24).
Bangladesh Competition Commission Chairperson Pradeep Ranjan Chakraborty confirmed this information to The Daily Messenger.
According to the commission, the business syndicate increased the unusual price of eggs through manipulation in August 2022. In this regard, the Commission through its own investigation identified the said two institutions and filed a case against them. This case was ongoing for more than a year. After analyzing all the facts, the commission gave the verdict on the case on Wednesday.
The verdict said that the fine should be paid within the next 30 days. Otherwise, They are ordered to pay one lakh taka per day.
