A Dhaka court on Tuesday (12 March) set March 19 for pronouncing the verdict of the Hallmark embezzlement case against 18 people, including the Hallmark managing director, filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Judge M. Abul Kashem of Dhaka Special Judge Court-1 fixed the day for delivering the judgment after the hearing in the case concluded today, ACC lawyer Mir Ahmed Salam told the media.
According to the case documents, the 18 accused, including Hallmark Group Managing Director Md Tanvir Mahmud and his wife and company chairman Jasmine Islam, are accused of embezzling Taka 16.50 crore after taking a loan of 525.62 crore in the name of a non-existent Max Spinning Mills.
The ACC filed the case on October 4, 2012, with the capital's Ramna Police Station.
