Post-poll violence: Case filed over school teacher’s murder

A case has been filed over the murder of a school teacher in a post-polls violence in Sirajganj’s Kamarkhanda upazila. The case was filed against 13 people following the complaint lodged by the victim's wife Najma Khatun, said Rezaul Islam, officer in charge (OC) of Kamarkhanda police station.

Masud Rana was a teacher at BKU High School in Kamarkhanda's Shyalbarisha and a supporter of the vice chairman candidate of Chashma Symbol in the upazila election.

According to the statement, Masud Rana was attacked by the supporters of another defeated vice chairman candidate in Balrampur Bazar on his way home after the announcement of the election results held on Wednesday (5 June).

Later, he was rushed to the 250-bed Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatunnecha Mujib General Hospital in Sirajganj. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment there, it said.
