Sadeeq Agro Farm has been evicted by the Dhaka North City Corporation as it was illegally built on the site of the Ramchandrapur canal and the adjacent road in the Mohammadpur area. The eviction started around 12:30 pm on Thursday (27 June).
According to the Dhaka North City Corporation sources, most of the structures of Sadeeq Agro were built after occupying a canal.
Mutakabbir Ahmed, executive magistrate of DNCC Zone 5 is conducting the eviction drive. In this regard, the magistrate said: “We are here to rescue the canal. Whoever has an establishment here, we will evict."
The authorities ignored the warnings though they were given notice earlier.
Sadeeq Agro gained attention before Eid-ul-Azha by selling a goat for Tk15 lakh to the son of former NBR official Matiur Rahman.
The much talked about goat which was priced at Tk15 lakh was also kept here. During the eviction, the goat was moved to an open space nearby.
