Former law minister Anisul Huq told the court, "Both Salman and I were supportive of the quota reform movement. I'm not guilty and I don't know anything about the killing. I ask for a fair trial to the court."

Police produced the duo before a Dhaka court at 7am on Thursday (29 August). The investigation officer of the case asked for a 10-day remand against them, and after a hearing, Dhaka metropolitan Magistrate Nurul Huda Chowdhury granted them five-day remand each.

Former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's private industry and investment adviser Salman F Rahman and former law minister Anisul Huq's remand period has been extended by five more days over allegations of killing a protester in front of Badda's Fuji Tower during the recent student protests.

In his remand prayer, Investigation Officer of the case and Sub Inspector of Badda police station Rezaul Alam said, "Salman F Rahman and Anisul Huq is the fourth and fifth accused in the case. According to trusted sources, they had incited the other accused in the case and given orders to kill the victim. We need 10 more days to question them about the incident."

They were arrested on 13 August in a case filed with the New Market police station.
