Police arrested actress Shomi Kaiser from the city's Uttara area in the early hours of today. She was rounded up from a house on Road-6 of sector-4 around 12:30am.
Deputy Commissioner of the Uttara Division Police Rawnak Jahan confirmed the arrest.
Shomi was arrested in connection with a case filed against her on October 9 last for attempting to commit murder BNP activist Syed Hasan Mahmud.
Apart from Shomi, ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former minister and actress Tarana Halim and folk singer and former lawmaker Momtaz Begum and 13 others were accued in the case.
Mahmud filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Belal Hossain.
