Former ministers Anisul Huq, Dipu Moni, Hasanul Haque Inu, former member of parliament Rashed Khan Menon and former inspector general of police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun have been placed on fresh remand for various durations. The Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court today gave the order after hearing remand pleas filed by police. The accused were produced before the court from jail after 8:30am today (19 March).
Court-related sources say that a court today granted a three-day remand to former law minister Anisul Huq in the Sujon murder case filed at the capital's Mohammadpur Police Station. Police said that Anisul Huq was arrested from Dhaka's Sadarghat area on 13 August last year after the Awami League government fell in a student-led uprising on 5 August. The court has granted him a total of 52 days of remand in various police stations so far.
The court has granted four days of remand to former education minister Dipu Moni, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President Hasanul Haque Inu and Bangladesh Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon in the Obaidul Islam murder case filed at the Jatrabari police station.
The police arrested Dipu Moni on 19 August last year. The court has granted a total of 12 days of remand for her in various cases so far. Rashed Khan Menon was arrested on 22 August. The court has granted him a total of 38 days of remand so far. Inu was arrested on 26 August and the court has granted him a total remand of 40 days so far.
A court today granted a four-day remand to former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun in the Sayem Hossain murder case filed at Jatrabari Police Station. Mamun was arrested on 3 September and the court has granted him a total of 92 days of remand so far.
The court today granted a three-day remand to former MP Sadeq Khan in the Arnab murder case filed at Mohammadpur Police Station. Police said Sadeq Khan was arrested on 24 August and the court has granted him a total of 9 days of remand in various cases so far. The court has granted three-day remand for former officer-in-charge (OC) Abul Hasan for questioning in a murder case filed at Jatrabari Police Station.
