Bangladesh is set to celebrate a remarkable achievement with the fulfillment of a long-awaited dream: the inauguration of the much-talked-about Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar railway route. This historic milestone, marked by the inaugural ceremony on November 11, signifies a momentous leap in communication – thereby opening up new horizons for the world-famous Cox’s Bazar district, home to the world’s longest beach town. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the route formally.

The railway project stands as a monumental feat, connecting Chattogram to Cox’s Bazar through picturesque landscapes, including the lush greenery of Chunti Sanctuary and the majestic mountains of Ramu. This transformative venture is poised to enhance economic activities, extending beyond the realms of tourism. Traveling on this newly established route promises breathtaking views, providing passengers with an opportunity to witness the natural beauty of Bangladesh in all its glory.

The introduction of the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar railway is poised to revolutionize the tourism industry in Cox’s Bazar. The reduced travel time and costs will not only facilitate convenient travel for the local population but also attract tourists from far and wide, bolstering the local economy. Moreover, this development will generate employment opportunities and contribute significantly to the overall economic growth of the region.

The inclusion of Cox’s Bazar in the rail network will streamline the transportation of goods, making it more efficient and cost-effective. This strategic integration will open up new avenues for trade and commerce, further boosting the local economy.

The project encompasses a vast stretch of land, covering 1,365 acres in Cox’s Bazar district, from Dohazari to Ramu. Under this initiative, 9 railway stations, 4 major bridges, 47 minor bridges, 149 box culverts, and 52 round culverts have been constructed. Despite the challenges faced during the project’s implementation, including flood-related damages to the under-construction Dohazari-Cox’s Bazar railway, the resilience of the team involved ensured that repairs were swiftly completed, paving the way for the commencement of train operations.

The completion of the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar railway underscores the immense potential of Bangladesh’s railway system. Despite the challenges faced during its construction, the successful realisation of this project is a testament to the country’s determination and resilience. As the formal inauguration approaches, the anticipation is palpable – thereby heralding a new era of connectivity, economic prosperity, and unparalleled opportunities for the people of Cox’s Bazar and the entire Chattogram region.
