The idiom "stand the test of time" means something has long-lasting value or that something is perpetually true. It can also mean that something is strong or effective enough to last for a very long time.

Honesty, self-esteem, righteousness, and morality have eroded from society a long time ago. People have developed mistrust and suspiciousness among their family, workplace colleagues and neighbours. Even benevolent gestures is misinterpreted with a blend of conspiracy theories.

Despite all odds and ills in society, amidst a few good news, an expatriate, Manik Bhuiyan, 55, a resident of Akhaura upazila, Brahmanbaria, deposited Taka 10,000 with the mobile ticket collector (TC) recently. The person has deposited the money against unpaid train tickets he never bought for two decades of travelling.
He wanted to absolve himself of the guilt that had tormented him for many years. Indeed an act of honesty, a Bangladeshi expatriate who had travelled by train without paying the fare on several occasions finally paid the debt after nearly two decades.

The authorities provided him with a money receipt. The netizen's appreciation flooded social media. It was told that Bhuiyan has been living in Italy since 1997. Before going abroad, he was a trader and frequented Brahmanbaria, Akhaura and Bhairab Bazar.

It was not understood, despite being a hardworking trader, why he never bought tickets to travel by train and kept account of his unpaid tickets.
However, he explained that every time he boarded the train, he kept an account of the fare. It can be more or less than Taka 10 thousand.

After returning home from performing Hajj, he is a changed person. Faithfulness ticked his heart and mind so hard that he walked to the office of the Brahmanbaria train station unannounced.

His subconscious mind, led by truthfulness, walked into the station where he submitted his plea. He admitted to have defaulted on several counts and said that he wanted to be freed from the guilt of failing to purchase tickets for several years.

He demanded that all the unpaid dues and loans should be handed down properly and thus he would be absolved from petty crimes he had committed.
Well, Manik Bhuiyan politely turned down to photograph of the informal event of handing out the money and receiving the invoice.

Thus, social media and formal media have not been able to upload the photos at the Brahmanbaria railway station. Only the scanned copy of the invoice by the railway authority was found on social media.

It is indeed a noble venture to prove one’s innocence and demonstrate a send of responsibility in society.
