Lady Luck finally favoured India in the T20 World Cup 2024.  It needs to be said that at some stages of the game it became difficult to guess who would win.  No doubt, after a long time, spectators enjoyed a nerve-racking finale, which never for a minute looked one-sided, as both sides gave their best to prove their mettle in the field.  After over a decade the coveted cup went to the deserving team that displayed world class performance in every department of the game.

The hype that was created in all the cricket playing nations was stupendous to say the least, and why not, T20 is supposed to be a game where adrenalin is expected to have a free flow from the beginning till end. As expected, many records have been broken while many new ones were created in this tournament.

The finale saw the battle of two cricketing giants that entertained millions of lovers of the game. Both teams are known as powerhouses of the game having some stars on each side. The power and prowess shown by some elderly veterans kept the spectators spellbound throughout the tournament, and the electrifying individual performances of some of them will remain in the record books for a very long time.

The berth at the top by South Africa and India was not at all a smooth sailing because both teams had to fight against worthy opponents, right from day one. Fitness and form became issues with some good players in all the teams as the tournament proceeded.

The Bangladesh team came back home achieving very little. The controversy surrounding selection of the team and the contemptible performance of our players disappointed the nation beyond mending. Bangladeshis from different US states had travelled to the venue to watch our players put up a good fight. But, instead, they witnessed the big names wobble pathetically and surrender before the opponents.

We hope Bangladesh Cricket Board will investigate the dismal performance of our star cricketers in this T20 World Cup and take the right decisions to prop it up.
