The half-yearly evaluation in secondary schools across the country has begun under the new curriculum. According to the new rules, students can discuss among themselves and write their responses in the exam book based on these discussions. Teachers in charge of the exam hall immediately evaluate some parts of the exam, while the remaining evaluation is done later based on the answer sheets. This evaluation process is based on questions prepared centrally by the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB). Due to these new rules, guidelines or questions are sent online to the head of the institution the day before the examination.

After downloading the question papers, the heads of institutions photocopy and distribute them to the students. However, on the first day, there have been allegations of leakage of student guidelines or question papers. These question papers were circulated on social media on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, the day before the exam. After the exam, it was found that the leaked question paper was identical to the official one. It has been reported that some students wrote the answers beforehand and brought them to the examination hall.

Despite this, the NCTB chairman refrains from calling it a "question leak." According to him, even if students receive the question papers in advance, it will not be beneficial since they must demonstrate their skills through various practical tasks in school. He also mentioned that steps will be taken to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.

Parents and students have had mixed reactions to the new assessment method. Some students complained that the class-based question paper was not standardised. Some parents feel that while group discussion-based writing practice is beneficial throughout the year, it is better not to implement it in the exam hall as it may hinder students from expressing their original thoughts.

After two years of experiment, the National Curriculum Coordination Committee gave final approval to the new assessment system on July 1. Due to the late approval, it was not possible to fully implement the new method in the half-yearly evaluation. Various guidelines have been given to educational institutions and teachers mainly through the draft evaluation system prepared by NCTB. The goal is to develop students in a way that prepares them to face future challenges and ensures that they do not lag behind their peers in other countries in terms of knowledge practice.
