Due to the sudden flood in the country, the suffering of people is now extreme. However, the whole of Bangladesh has united to support the flood victims. Everyone is cooperating according to their ability. The major proof of this is the student relief collection program at TSC. All kinds of people are coming forward. Such Bangladesh has rarely been seen. However, there must be a proper plan in distributing so much relief. Especially the government should also come forward to implement this plan.
People of at least 10 districts of south-eastern part of the country, including Feni, Comilla, Moulvibazar, are living their days in dire straits due to floods. Houses are underwater in most areas of the districts. Roads were submerged in water and communications were cut off. Almost all systems including electricity, phone network have been disrupted. Hundreds of thousands of people have become trapped in water amid such extreme adverse conditions. The flood situation that was seen is as terrible as it is unprecedented. In this situation, there has been an acute shortage of clean water and food in many areas.
The work of collecting relief for cooperation in flood-affected areas is going on under the initiative of various organizations and forums. Students, various professionals, common people; and Religious-political-social organizations are helping the poor people in groups. It appears that they have come forward with a great purpose to help the flood victims. Working in relief distribution with rescue operations. The way hundreds of people from different areas including Chittagong have rushed towards Feni with speedboats and engine boats is truly unbelievable. The people of this country do not really suffer even in the face of hundreds of disasters.
Due to its geographical location and natural features, Bangladesh is always prone to disasters. On the other hand, prevention of natural disasters is almost impossible. However, it is possible to minimize loss of life and damage in any disaster by taking appropriate pre-preparedness and action planning. But hopefully, all other defense and security forces of the country, including the Army and Navy, have jumped into rescue operations. From other parts of the country especially the youth community is also helping to take the affected people to safe shelter. Eyewitnesses said food was going in abundance, but planning was lacking. With so many eager people with food there is fear of some kind of chaos, it should be stopped by the concerned. It is understood that there is no coordination with anyone anywhere.
Relief should be distributed keeping coordination and transparency. Care should also be taken that one person does not receive more than one. It is important to list relief distribution in coordination with administration, local public representatives and responsible leaders of various organizations. Cash allocation, rice and dry food have been given for relief work in the affected areas. But the fact that the government relief aid in different regions is not enough has already come up in the news of different media. In this situation, the big hope is the support of various organizations.
