No end to extortion, occupation

Awami League regime has ended. A kind of propaganda can be heard that Sheikh Hasina's government has ended the country after being in power for more than 15 years. In view of that, the reign of terror, occupation, extortion established during the Awami League period, it is a natural expectation that they will end in the new regime free of Awami League.

But that did not happen, the news that new extortionists and occupiers have started roaming in the country is also known.

Some media news said: In various areas of Khulna, there have been allegations of extortion in the name of extremists. Apart from this, since the fall of the Awami League government, the identity of BNP leaders has been extorted in various areas. The victims have alleged that they are being framed in false cases along with intimidation for not paying the dues as per the demand.

Top businessmen, politicians, school teachers, bankers, journalists are also not spared from extortion. Some businessmen have filed written complaints against the extortionists at the police station and BNP office, but many do not have the courage to file a complaint anywhere.

According to media news, even after the fall of the Awami League government, the festival of forest encroachment has not stopped in different areas of Gazipur's Sreepur Upazila. In the last one month, about 24 bigha of forest land has been encroached upon in the upazila. In the changed situation, various types of illegal structures are being built on these lands occupied under the umbrella of the leaders of different political parties. Forest workers are being attacked and beaten up while rescuing encroached forest land.

Both news are cause for concern. Misrule continues despite the departure of the misrule. On the one hand, it creates discomfort in people's minds, on the other hand, it also makes them hopeless. It is being said that this year's student uprising-movement has created a new Bangladesh. There will be no irregularities, corruption, discrimination in this Bangladesh. There will be no coercion. One will not take away the rights of another by any kind of oppression or by showing power. No one shall be deprived of justice. No person shall be discriminated against on grounds of religion.

The chief adviser of the interim government. Muhammad Yunus said in a speech to the nation; after leaving the country led by the fascist government in the face of popular anger, we want to build a country where the human rights of every citizen will be fully protected. Our goal is the same. Liberal, democratic, non-discriminatory, non-communal Bangladesh.

The people of the country also want that. Is there any option to take a strong stand against those who are taking advantage of the opportunity to occupy and extort? But this government is still not able to give the answer to this question.
