The chief advisor of the interim government of Bangladesh is the Nobel Peace Prize-winning economist Prof Muhammad Yunus in his address to the United Nations has highlighted the glorious story of the student uprising. Along with this, he expressed the hope of building a just and inclusive new Bangladesh by achieving democracy, good governance and prosperity through sustainable reforms. And urged the world to stand by Bangladesh in the new journey of democracy. Dr. Yunus also brought up the issue of genocide in Palestine and repatriation of Rohingyas from Bangladesh in his speech. As a result, his position is being appreciated in the country and in the international arena.

Many congratulated him after his speech at the United Nations General Assembly on Friday night. Dr. Yunus said, inspired by the spirit of the language movement of 1952 and the liberation war of 1971, the young generation followed their predecessors and said goodbye to the autocratic and corrupt regime in Bangladesh. The student uprising has opened a new door of possibilities in the radical reform of the existing state structure in Bangladesh. There is a desire to build a just and inclusive new Bangladesh by achieving democracy, good governance and prosperity through sustainable reforms. Bangladesh wants the world to support its new journey of democracy.

Referring to the changing political situation in Bangladesh, Dr. Yunus said, in view of the revolutionary changes that took place in Bangladesh in July-August, today he was able to attend this great parliament of the world community. The immense power of the masses, especially the youth, has opened the door to a new possibility of radical transformation of our existing state structures and institutions. The student and youth movement was initially an anti-discrimination movement. Gradually it turned into a mass movement. After that, the whole world watched in amazement how the entire people of Bangladesh stood firm against dictatorship, oppression, discrimination, injustice and corruption on the streets and through social media. In this collective determination lies the future of the country, which will elevate Bangladesh to the status of a responsible nation in the global community. This mass movement united the vast masses of Bangladesh who were deprived of political rights and development. People fought for a fair, inclusive and effective democracy, for which new generations sacrificed their lives. Ignoring the gunshots, the students stood with their chests raised. People of all classes and professions of the country strongly voiced against the illegal state power. Sacrifice their lives. Hundreds of people have lost their sight forever. One and a half thousand people have been killed by the dictator. The totalitarian corruption of Sheikh Hasina's government has turned a functioning democratic system into a shambles, the key institutions of the state are kept captive in the cycle of ruthless partisanship, people's financial resources are ruthlessly looted, a special interest group unjustly seizes all businesses and trades and launders the country's wealth freely. In short, justice, ethics and morality disappeared at every stage.

Like Dr. Muhammad Yunus, we feel that correcting the mistakes of the past and building a competitive and strong economy and a just society is what everyone is hoping for right now. People from all walks of life need to come forward to realize this goal.
