Daffodil International University organized a “Meet the Press” today (28 December) at Daffodil Tower 71, Sobhanbagh in the capital to celebrate the successful application of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Professor Dr. Syed Akhtar Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Science and Information Technology of the University read out the written statement at the 'Meet the Press'. Presided over by Sarwar Hossain Mollah, Head of the Department of Computing and Information Systems (CIS) of Daffodil International University and Convener of the celebration committee, the 'Meet the Press' was also addressed by Professor Dr. Md. Masum Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship, Professor Dr. Syed Mizanur Rahman, Director of Student Affairs, Dr. Tanvir Fittin Abir, Director, Career Development Center.
Daffodil International University's different success records in applying Artificial Intelligence (AI), the most talked about technology of the day, was presented at the 'Meet the Press'.
It was also informed at the ‘Meet the Press’ that before the pandemic in 2019, with the sincere efforts of Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University, Machine Learning, Data Mining, and Data Science were added to the course curriculum of various departments in the Faculty of Science and Information Technology and the teachers successfully applied the technology in various projects in the classroom. Daffodil International University has been a shining example of cutting-edge technology and application since its inception.
Daffodil International University has been one of the pioneers in the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and technological innovation since the beginning of the fourth industrial revolution (4IR). A Master's in AI or Master's program on Artificial Intelligence has been designed and introduced in the university keeping in mind the goal of creating skilled manpower to build a smart Bangladesh by 2041 using artificial intelligence. The program will be launched next year under the Department of Computing and Information Systems.
At the same time, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has been incorporated in the undergraduate programs conducted under various departments of the Faculty of Science and Information Technology and today the university is marking the third year of success of the application of artificial intelligence in the activities of the Faculty of Science and Information Technology of Daffodil International University, informed the press conference.
It was also informed at the ‘Meet the Press that another advanced level of artificial intelligence, is "Generative AI," a type of artificial intelligence that can generate content and ideas for conversations, stories, images, videos, and music. This Artificial Intelligence was added to all academic programs in science and information technology majors, such as computer science and engineering, software engineering, computing information systems, multimedia and creative technology, and information technology management in 2021, and generative in early 2023. Change is brought about by prioritizing IQ.
“Multimodal AI Platform” is a unique project among many successful projects in the application of artificial intelligence at Daffodil International University. This unique platform developed by final-year students of the CIS department is the best example of the successful application of artificial intelligence for the first time in Bangladesh.
Apart from CIS, other departments are very active and as you will be happy, Daffodil International University has enough research and development efforts to focus on the application of artificial intelligence. AI tools are already being used to tailor jobs in the Information Technology and Management (ITM) sector. 10 AI projects of the software engineering department and 7 AI projects of the CSE department are already being used in Bangladesh in education, healthcare, and communication systems, it was informed in the 'meet the press' event.
