The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) announced on Tuesday (16 January) that secondary level educational institutions will be closed in districts where temperatures dip below 10 degrees Celsius.
The DSHE previously stated that if the temperature goes below 17 degrees Celsius, schools will be closed.
"Severe cold waves are sweeping over different districts of the country. The normal academic activities of students are being disrupted in this ongoing winter," the DSHE said in a circular on Tuesday.
"In this case, the secondary level educational institutions will be closed in those districts where the maximum temperature will fall below 10 degrees Celsius [with proof of weather forecast]."
It further stated that regional deputy directors of the directorate will issue directions to close schools after speaking with the district education officers involved.
