Professor Dr. MD Shahrukh Adnan Khan, MIET (IET, UK), Fellow (UnSy) joined on 12 January 2024 at Atish Dipankar University of Science & Technology as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology and Advisor of Brand, Communication and External Affairs. He will also act as a full-time Professor in the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
Md. Liakat Ali Sikdar, Honorable Chairman, Board of Trustees gave him a warm welcome in the presence of Professor Dr. Md. Zahangir Alam, Hon’Vice Chancellor, A.k.M. Delwer Hussain, Treasurer and Prof. Dr. Ashis Kumar Bhattacharjee, Head of EEE department.
Prof. Shahrukh has joined ADUST with a vision to take the University to the next level of success in terms of world academic ranking, quality research, job placement & industry collaboration in an international platform.
In the past, Prof. Khan with his vast experience worked in multi-dimensional capacities at the esteemed University of Nottingham (UK), Taylor's University (Malaysia), University of Asia Pacific, Uttara University, Canadian University of Bangladesh, and other leading private institutions. He held the position of Office of the Dean, Engineering School, Director of Research Center, Director of IQAC, International Affairs, Head of EEE Department and Advisor of Admission and Digital Branding, among others.
Professor Khan also worked as a member of the Senior Management Committee and the Syndicate at the Canadian University of Bangladesh. In addition, he is the Editor-in-Chief of JVE (Europe), Guest Editor of Inderscience (UK) and Editor of Frontiers in Energy Research (Switzerland), among other prestigious editorial positions. In addition, he is a Fellow at Unnayan Shamannay, working with the renowned economist and former governor of the Bangladesh Bank, Professor Dr. Atiur Rahman.
Furthermore, Dr. Khan is an Adjunct Professor at the renowned Taylor's University in Malaysia. Khan’s research area covers but not limited to Smart City Planning, Crowd Energy, Fin-Tech, Education 4.0, IoT, Energy Harvesting, Distributed Renewables and Machines. He has a distinguished record of publishing more than 50 international journal articles and conference papers, of which more than 40 are indexed in SCOPUS.
As an industry expert and within a leadership capacity, Professor Shahrukh's career as Director, of Strategic Finance and Investments Limited, Chief Advisor, icreOne (R&D), Secretary, the Research & Development Wing of Nagorik Dhaka, and in numerous other capacities, provided him with an outstanding breadth of industry leadership experience.
Additionally, Dr. Khan worked for the esteemed PTT Exploration & Production Public Company Limited, Thailand's national energy company, and BJ Services, Middle East Branch.
Dr. Khan has an all through first-class career in his academic life. He received his BEng in EEE from the University of Nottingham (UK), securing the Enhanced High Achievers Scholarship. Later, he was awarded as Dean Scholar as the only graduate of his batch to secure PhD from the same University. Currently he is earning CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Hours through IET (UK) to receive Professional Engineering Status for CEng [Chartered Engineering].
