This decision was taken during a syndicate meeting on Sunday (Feb 4). Besides, a four-member committee has been formed to investigate the incident. The committee has been directed to submit the report within 15 working days.
The students whose certificates have been suspended are Mustafizur Rahman, a student of the International Relations Department and International Affairs Secretary of the University Branch Chhatra League; Murad Hossain of the same department; Shah Poran; Mostafa Manowar Siddiqui; Md Hasan-uz-zaman; and Sabbir Hasan, a student of the Botany Department.
All of them, except Shah Poran, have been declared persona non-grata on the campus. On the other hand, Murad, Sabbir, and Mustafa Monwar Siddiqui have been suspended temporarily.
Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Rabeya Begum’s court granted a three-day remand to Mostafizur Rahman, Sabbir Hasan, Shagor Siddik, and Hasan-Uz-Zaman.
At around 9:30 pm on Saturday (Feb 3), the husband was held in room number 317 of the `A` block of Mir Musharraf Hossain Hall while the wife was raped by the adjoining forest.
The victim`s husband filed a case under the Prevention of Violence Against Women and Children Act against six people at the Ashulia police station. Four people have been arrested in this incident so far.
