A documentary film titled ‘Unveiling the Tapestry: An Exclusive Screening of Threads’ has screened at Dhaka University's RC Mojumder Auditorium on Friday (February 9).
The film tracing the journey of Suraiya Rahman, a renowned Nakshi Kantha artist, and her contribution to this industry.
According to the organizer, the goal of this initiative is to encourage women to be self-reliant. Spreeha Foundation and Dhaka University Cultural Society arranged the show jointly.
The producer of the documentary Cathy Stevulak, founder of Spreha Foundation Tajin Shahdid, Spreeha Girls' Journey’s head of growth Halimatus Sadiya, President and General Secretary of Dhaka University Cultural Society Devjyoti Biswas and KM Tanvirul Haque, were presented during the show.
Cathy Stevulak, director of the documentary, said, “When I watch this documentary, I get emotional. I would like to thank Spreeha Foundation and the Dhaka University Cultural Society for their spontaneous participation and cooperation.”
Tajin Shahdid, founder of Spreeha Foundation, said, “10 years ago, when we started the journey of Spreeha Foundation, one of our dreams was to make life easier for common people and contribute to ensuring the empowerment of working classes and women. Today, the presence of girls in this event proves that we are slowly moving towards that dream.”
Devjyoti Biswas, the president of Dhaka University Cultural Society, said, “Dhaka University Cultural Society believes in nurturing and preserving the heritage of Bengali culture. Nakshi Kantha is our tradition. We applaud this initiative of the Spreeha Foundation.”
